What was termed, "...the most significant exhibition of the art and archaeology of Mayan culture to be seen in Europe...," was held in Madrid and Barcelona in the spring and summer of 1990. Drawing many seldom or never exhibited objects--and never before seen in Europe (or the U.S.)--from national and regional museums in Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Spain, the two host museums mounted a spectacular display of Mayan art. Included in this out of print catalogue of the exhibition, in addition to over 250 photographs, are ten essays (in Spanish) by nine leading Mayan scholars.
