A splendid exhibition of primitive art sculptural objects acquired by San Francisco area collectors was held at the de Young Museum in 1982. Most of the objects--in very large pictures--had never before been published, and a number of them--including an extraordinary Tonga Islands neckrest and a lovely Fang bieri--are of superb quality. There are complete, very fine descriptions for each of 115 objects in the exhibition and a very well written text.
