Bayou Goula, an historic site in Southern Louisiana at which there had been a large village occupied in the late 17th and 18th centuries by the Bayougoula and a number of other tribes--some closely related to the Natchez and Choctaw--was excavated in 1940-41. Uncovered were pottery, sherds of a variety of types, beads, boatstones, figurines, pipes, and European trade goods. This out of print volume discusses the site, its history, its excavations, and the objects uncovered.
