PRELIMINARY STUDY OF TRADITIONAL KUTCHIN CLOTHING IN MUSEUMS
National Museum of Man, Ethnology Series, Paper No. 1, 1972. 92 pages, 27 pages of photographs and 8 pages of drawings, 2 maps. Item #7887
The traditional clothing of the Kutchin Indians, a northern Athapaskan people, is noted for its artistry and excellent craftsmanship and is seldom exhibited in those museums (thought to be no more than 14) that possess this material. The text very effectively traces the evolution of costume styles from the late 18th through the late 19th century; the illustrations show clothing from most of the major collections.
