The author, former curator of the Arunachal Pradesh Museum, has written a valuable study of the art of the tribes of the state of Arunachal Pardesh. One of the few publications to have dealt with the ethnography and material culture of the tribes of this state, this out of print work concentrates heavily on the basketry and bamboo work of the state's thirty-six tribal groups. The magico-religious and socio-religious significance of the objects is thoroughly discussed; the illustrations almost all deal with basketry and containers.
