Published in 1929, this is stil the best and most thorough study on the beautiful basket work of the San Carlos Apache--that portion of the tribe that inhabited the Gila River area. Almost 100 baskets are illustrated in the photographs, and the drawings show over 100 design elements taken from coiled ware ollas, burden baskets and coiled ware bowls. The text reviews the weaving process and discusses design elements and ornamentation.
