LAO MIEN EMBROIDERY. Migration and change
Bangkok: 1995. xiv, 72 pages of text containing several hundred drawings of embroidery designs, plus 42 pages of color photographs. Item #6621
The Lao Mien, a subgroup of the Chinese Yao, lived in relative isolation in parts of Laos, Vietnam, Burma, and Thailand until the Vietnam war. This study of Mien embroidery--very handsomely illustrated--examines the history of this striking tradition and the impact migration (to the United States) has had on it.
