ART OF EQUATORIAL GUINEA: THE FANG TRIBES.
New York & Barcelona: 1990. 177 pages, 26 color and 36 b/w photographs, 42 drawings, 5 maps. Cloth cover. Item #445
This was the first major volume in English on the art and culture of the Fang, written by the leading authority on the art of this people and by a Spanish authority on the Fang. Using the Fang objects in the collection of the Folch Rusinol Museum in Barcelona as a basis for discussion, the authors describe Pang culture from the ethnographic and ethnohistorical points of view. The text provides an important addition to the literature of Fang art; the more than 100 photographs and drawings illustrate many figures never before published.
