The 1913 German Colonial Office expedition to the Cameroon resulted in this detailed study of the culture of the Baja. Originally published in two volumes in 1934 and 1937, this set remains one of the principal works, if not the principal work, on this Cameroon tribe. Volume I concentrates on objects used in ritual and ceremonies. Volume II examines Baja spiritual life and its mens' societies and their ceremonies and artifacts. There are illustrations of more than 400 artifacts.
