In 1976, Gallery K mounted an important exhibition of Niger River Delta sculpture--one of the earliest exhibitions in the U.S. of material from this region. Twenty-nine pieces of remarkably fine quality--Ijaw, Urhobo, Igbo, Isoko, among them--were exhibited, and are illustrated in this catalogue of that exhibition which also contains a thorough review and discussion of the material--and some erudite speculations and conclusions--by Arnold Rubin.
