For this book, Curtis' daughter (F. Curtis Graybill) selected 182 of her father's finest photographs. She and V. Boesen have provided a detailed and moving biography of Curtis' life. And, Curtis' son (H. Curtis) has written a touching, insightful memory of his father. But this work is about Curtis' photographs, and 182 are illustrated--from his classic 20 volume work, The North American Indian, and from his other photographs. Captions to all of his b/w photographs and descriptions for each full-page duotone photograph were written by Curtis himself.
