U.S. Navy expeditions in 1876 and 1877 and the collections acquired during the expeditions are described in this rare, century old publication. 788 objects were collected (many are illustrated), examples of which--for many--had never before been seen. Also included in this 509 page volume is Prehistoric Fishing in Europe and North America, by C. Rau, a 342 page paper that contains 405 figures, many of them illustrations of aboriginal hooks, sinkers and carved objects found in North and South America and the Pacific.
